The Grantsville Song Cycle project was inspired by the regional Emmy award-winning documentary "Zion Canyon Song Cycle," which captures in music the essence of the towns near Zion National Park The masters behind ZCSS, Phillip Bimstein and Hal Cannon, presented a workshop in January 2013 to musicians in Grantsville thanks to a grant from the Division of Utah Arts and Museums with funding from the National Endowment of the Arts given to the Friends of Clark Historic Farm Local musicians then collected oral history, studied historical accounts and used personal observations to write songs that would capture the essence of Grantsville Weekly jam sessions encouraged exchange of ideas and feedback, and in June 2014 a songwriter's presentation concert was held to share 12 songs written by 7 musicians The music was well received, and in November 2014, the group was asked to perform the Grantsville Song Cycle for the town's largest annual event, the Grantsville Sociable A second grant from the same source is providing funding to professionally record the album which should be available December 2015
