We are pleased to announce The Bboy Federation’s second annual stage production; They Reminisce We had such overwhelming praise for last year’s performance; we just had to do it again Of course, we will be adding a few surprises that will perk up the show This year will be full of high energy dances, great music to represent each era, and a visually exciting experience for the audience Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center Jeanne Wagner Theater 138 West 300 South, SLC UT 84101 February 6 Open Cyphers 5:00pm Theater Doors 7:00pm Curtain 7:30pm February 7 Open Cyphers 12:00pm Theater Doors 1:00pm Curtain 1:30 February 7 Open Cyphers 5:00pm Theater Doors 7:00pm Curtain 7:30pm Prior to each performance, there will be what we call an Open Cypher This is basically a circle of dancer’s who freestyle (not choreographed) to the music This will be held in the lobby each day before the show We will have a live DJ playing music throughout this time and dancers will get a chance to warm up and hang out before the show begins Tickets for all performances are available through the Rose Wagner Box Office as well as online at wwwartixcom Tickets are priced at $1700 They Reminisce has been an exciting new step for The Bboy Federation; exploring the origins of Hip Hop and street dance style Again this year, we will be examining the progression of Hip Hop Dance by showcasing the influence of music and different dance styles over the years The goal of this production is to provide education in Hip Hop and bring awareness to the local talent All of the dancers, choreographers and volunteers that are involved in this performance live for Hip Hop This passion is something we want to share with our community They Reminisce travels through 3 eras of Hip Hop; the 1970’s is the Origins Era, the 1990’s is the Golden Era and finally the 2000’s which consists of the Modern Era Each of these eras has distinct characteristics shown in clothing, emotion, music and dance In the beginning, it all begins with the DJ In this case, DJ Scratchmo will create the soundtrack as we go through different genres like New Jack, House, Bboying and other forms of Funk and Hip Hop music They Reminisce promises a unique experience and excitement not only for the dancers but the audience as well “In the beginningthere was the DJ and the music Without these 2 essential things Hip Hop and its dances would not exist” says Joshua Perkins, the Executive Director of the Bboy Federation “We are thrilled to explore this aspect in our history and are excited to see everyone’s reaction to the show” The Bboy Federation is a non-profit organization that showcases urban dance as a viable path to success through practice, performance and education By hosting competitions, workshops, performances and educational programs, we strive to promote street style dance as a respected and legitimate art form For more information about the Non-Profit or They Reminisce please visit wwwbboyfedcom
